Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra

Where to hear them: The Cherry Orchard Festival is proud to present the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra at the Nourse Theater on Sunday, June 11 at 7 p.m. Maestro Vladimir Spivakov and the acclaimed Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, hailed by the New York Times as “first-class string performers,” return to San Francisco as a part of their North-American tour. Vladimir Spivakov, one of the world’s most prominent violinists and conductors, has lead the Moscow Virtuosi since 1979, setting up the gold standard for chamber music performances. The Washington Post has noted the Virtuosi as “a dramatically unified ensemble” with “a sound that would put many full orchestras to shame.” Moscow Virtuosi and Vladimir Spivakov are joined by the brilliant soprano and Metropolitan Opera star, Ms. Hibla Gerzmava, for the program of international opera hits, famous romances, as well as classical favorites performed by the orchestra. Young Israeli cellist, Danielle Akta, also joins the program as a soloist. Mt. Diablo Music Education Foundation

MDMEF was created to keep music alive in the Mount Diablo Unified School District. The current purpose of the foundation is to keep 5th grade instrumental music from being eliminated for the 2010-11 school. This would have dire consequences on the entire music program (Vocal and Instrumental) from Elementary to High School. Please support the foundation.
