Ballet San Jose was founded in 1983 as the City Center Ballet of San Jose, and in 1985 began a co-venture relationship with Cleveland Ballet that spanned the two cities for nearly 15 years before its re-establishment in 2000 as an independent resident company in San Jose. Ballet San Jose presents nearly 30 performances annually at the San Jose Center for Performing Arts. Ballet San Jose School is the official school of Ballet San Jose, training more than 400 students annually, and in 2012 became the first institution on the west coast certified to offer the complete America Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum.
From the practice studio to the stage, BandWorks gives aspiring musicians of all ages and abilities the skills to play in a rock band--and make new friends in the process. In our fun and supportive workshops, summer camps, and after-school programs, BandWorks' professional musician-instructors organize students into bands, help them rehearse their favorite songs in a fully equipped studio, then let them take the stage to perform live at a popular local venue.
This cooperative of professional brass players from around the Bay Area presents concerts that spotlight the unique repertoire and sound of this family of instruments. Bay Area Brass draws members from top-flight ensembles in the area, and their concerts include jazz and other contemporary musical styles, in addition to classical repertoire.
This unique organization includes the BACH Ensemble, The Josquin Singers, and The Seemorgh Ensemble, as well as the Last Friday at Pro Arts music series.
The Bay Area Discovery Museum is a one-of-a-kind indoor and outdoor children's museum at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge, serving over 300,000 visitors per year on its 7.5 acre Sausalito campus. The Museum is the only children’s museum in the U.S. to be located in a national park, and its exhibits are admired and emulated by other children’s museums nationwide.
