Ballet San Jose's last-ditch emergency fundraising drive reached its goal by its Saturday deadline with money to spare, the company announced Saturday night. "The campaign raised $640,000. Our goal was $550,000," a representative announced.The $90,000 extra will be applied toward the troupe's next stage of fundraising, the Fund for the Future.

Janice Berman, SFCV’s senior dance critic, has been a dance writer and reviewer since 1978, beginning at Newsday and New York Newsday. She has written on dance for The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Ballet Review, and Dance Magazine, where she was editor-in-chief.
