Ava Soifer

Since 1985 I have performed in vocal, solo, and chamber music recitals throughout the Bay area with ensembles: Trio della Rosa, Montage, and with members of the Kronos Quartet, S.F. Symphony, S.F. Ballet and the S.F. Opera Orchestra. Worked as staff accompanist and vocal coach at Notre Dame (Belmont); as accompanist for the San Francisco Lyric Choir; and accompanist for "Bass Bash" summer music programs with Barry Green. I was on the faculty at the Marin Music Conservatory teaching private piano from 1995-2008. Currently artistic director of "Music on the Hill" (a chamber music concert series) and artist-in-residence at San Francisco School of the Arts (SOTA) as head of the piano and chamber music programs.

I teach privately at my home in the Bernal Hts. neighborhood of San Francisco. My teaching style for young students and teenagers is rigorous with emphasis on technique, understanding of period style and expressive aspects of performance. With adults I am flexible with goals.
