Founded:

2006

What they do best:

Since its founding in 2006, Chora Nova has become an important part of the San Francisco Bay Area’s cultural fabric. Based in Berkeley, California, it is known as a chorus that presents innovative programs featuring a mix of well-known and unusual works from the Baroque to the 20th century. Our March 2015 concert introduced Bay Area audiences to Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast and Gustav Holst’s The Cloud Messenger. In March 2017 we performed Rheniberger’s Stabat Mater, which at that time had never been recorded, even on YouTube. The chorus presents three concerts per year, in November, March, and May.

Where to hear them:

First Congregational Church, Berkeley
