The Left Coast Chamber Ensemble premieres three new works this weekend on the theme of childhood. They include well-known composer-pianist Eric Zivian's response to Camille Saint-Saens' “The Swan” (from Carnival of the Animals; a piece by Beth Custer, who has done everything from trip hop to Latin jazz to ambient music and silent film soundtracks; and Hyo-Shin Na, a composer who has seen a lot of her work played in the Bay Area.

In addition, Leos Janacek's Mladi and Robert Schumann's Kinderszenen share the program. Now that is a real variety show.
