S.F. Dance Film Festival comes to town, Sept. 12-15

The San Francisco Dance Film Festival will partner with the IMZ—International Music and Media Centre, hosting the 2013 dance screen competition and conference. San Francisco Ballet and the San Francisco Film Society will join as co-presenters of the S.F. Dance Film Festival

IMZ is a global association of organizations involved in aspects of audio-visual music and dance. Its more than 150 members include broadcasters, performing arts companies and venues, program producers and distributors, record and DVD labels, cinema and new media specialists — participants in the creation and dissemination of music in the media. The largest are international brands such as the BBC, Metropolitan Opera, and Universal Music; the smallest are individual composers, choreographers, musicians, and directors.

Screenings will be held in the Roxie Theater and the Delancey Screening Room because the originally announced venue for the event, Landmark's Embarcadero Cinemas, canceled all bookings due to a delays in renovations. The festival will show some 50 films, including Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, with 21 additional films on viewing stations at the Museum of Performance+Design.
