"Jerry Medina defies description. He is a chameleon in that he is equally amazing as a bilingual vocalist, a jazzer, a funkster, an unparalleled scat singer, and a world-class trumpet player. His band is the creme de la creme of Puerto Rico. "Magician" is the closest temr I can come up with to capture his unique essence." - John Santos

John Santos' curated week begins with a performance by trumpeter and vocalist Jerry Medina and his superb band, straight from Puerto Rico. A three-decade veteran of the salsa, jazz, and pop scenes, Medina was a member of the legendary Fania All-Stars, Puerto Rico All Stars, and the groundbreaking Batacumbele, and has worked with a staggering list of greats including Tito Puente, José Feliciano, Marc Anthony, Frankie Ruiz, Manny Manuel, and Luis Enrique. He lent his singular vocal style to a pair of GRAMMY-winning releases by piano great Eddie Palmieri, 1987's La Verdad, and his 2000 collaborative album with iconic timabelero and bandleader Puente, Masterpiece, and is most at home leading his own fiery ensemble, Jerry Medina y La Banda.
