Presented by Santa Clara Chorale

With music so festive, you may want it to repeat! Resounding Joy blends the Santa Clara Chorale with brass, percussion and organ to fill the Mission with holiday mirth. Experience the power of Kevin Memley’s Magnificat, the majesty of Donald McCollough’s Canite Tuba, and the comfort of classic holiday carols. Resounding Joy will feature musicians of the San Jose Chamber Orchestra.
Memley’s Magnificat is a fresh, tuneful work for choir, brass, percussion and organ with compelling rhythms. McCollough's Canite Tuba opens with trumpet fanfares and a choral proclamation in Latin text, with chant-like vocal lines leading to a joyous fugal finale: “and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!” Our audience will join the Chorale in singing traditional carols.
The Santa Clara Chorale, an 80-voice community chorus formed in 1962, performs a diverse repertoire ranging from the classical masterworks of Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart to contemporary choral music, including jazz, folk, spirituals, popular, and world music.
