TonaLaura Jazz Duo: Laura Klein, piano and Tony Corman, guitar

Presented by Calliope: East Bay Music & Arts

A jazz journey through the Great American Songbook, Bossa nova, bebop, and originals TonaLaura Jazz Duo is the musical marriage of the husband-and-wife team, pianist/composer Laura Klein and guitarist/composer Tony Corman. Laura's unique, lyrical harmonic sense and Tony's extraordinary arranging skills bring a rare richness to the duo format. For this special performance, they'll be playing a selection of tunes drawn from the Great American Songbook, bebop, Brazilian bossa nova, and their own originals. Laura and Tony are also the co-leaders of FivePlay Jazz Quintet, whose 2020 CD, "Summer Dusk: The Studio Sessions", has been receiving critical acclaim, and made several "Best Albums of the Year" lists. This concert will be performed as a Live-Streamed premiere on Sunday, February 28th, and will continue to be available on-demand for ticket-holders for an additional week after that. Ticket-holders can watch it as many times as they like, whenever and wherever they like! Laura Klein, pianist, composer, recording artist and bandleader, is delighted to be returning to Calliope with TonaLaura Jazz Duo. Laura has performed and recorded her own compositions with FivePlay Jazz Quintet, Triceratops, vibraphonist Ted Wolff, and others.
