As noted in a recent Music News column, George Cleve’s Midsummer Mozart festival will be graced by violinist Mayuko Kamio in its second concert set. Kamio, the winner of the 2007 Tchaikovsky Competition, and a busy soloist around the world, drops in to our neck of the woods for Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5. The 27-year-old played as an emergency replacement with the Symphony Silicon Valley this past October, garnering a rave review in the San Jose Mercury News, and though her assignment is less daunting during this stay, she’s likely to make the occasion a special one.
