Adams at the Berkeley Festival of Ideas

Surrounded by the Death of Klinghoffer controversy once again (a subject I now leave to those who haven't seen the opera and are interested only in causes that have nothing to do with music, or shall we revive the Great Wagner Dustup again?), composer John Adams is due at the Berkeley Festival of Ideas at 9 a.m. Oct. 25.

He will have a conversation with Cal Performances' Matias Tarnopolsky on the subject of "Why Make Music?"

Participants and programs at the Festival of Ideas include a wide range of professions and subjects.

Venues include Berkeley Repertory Theatre (2025 Addison St.), the Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse (2020 Addison St.), and the University Club atop UC Berkeley’s Memorial Stadium.
