Steinway Society will open its 20th season at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20 in the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts with a recital by Agustín Anievas.

At age 12, Anievas became the youngest artist ever to be presented in a major recital at Mexico City’s Palacio de Bellas Artes. After studying with Adele Marcus at the Juilliard School, Anievas went on to a performing career that brought him to concert halls around the world; his EMI recordings of Brahms, Chopin, Liszt, Schubert, and Rachmaninov have been critically acclaimed.

Following several decades as chairman of the Piano Department at Brooklyn College’s Conservatory, as well as offering his vision of Romantic music in master class venues, and as a participant on many international competition juries, Anievas has recently released a new CD on the Newport Classic label of Schumann and Chopin.

At the Mountain View recital the program consists of works by Schubert, Beethoven, and Chopin.

Steinway Society Piano Series will continue on Oct. 18 with Ann Schein and on Nov. 22 with 2010 Queen Elizabeth Competition winner Denis Kozhukhin.
