SF Music Day: Rich (But Free) Mix of Music Performances

Next weekend, at the S.F. Conservatory of Music, the seventh annual SF Music Day (should be plural) presents 38 ensembles presenting free early, chamber, and new music performances, plus jazz and other not easily definable genre.

The event, organized by the S.F. Friends of Chamber Music, runs from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sept. 20, and from noon through 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 21. Again, it's all with free admission.

Participants include (in overlapping categories):

Ariel Ensemble, The Bay Brass, BELLA Piano Trio, Bertamo Trio, Duo Camaraderie, Jarring Sounds, The Lee Trio, Chamber Music Society of San Francisco, Sor Ensemble, Tanya Tomkins and Eric Zivian Duo, Telegraph Quartet, and Trio 180.

Representing contemporary and new music: Del Sol String Quartet, Friction Quartet, Gojogo, Ignition Duo, Chris Kallmyer, Dohee Lee, Luis Escareño and Anne Rainwater, Mobius Trio, New Keys, Nonsemble 6, Sqwonk + ZOFO duet, Two Blind Mice, Wild Rumpus.

Jazz and "creative music":

Terrence Brewer Trio, George Brooks Trio with Kai Eckhardt and Osam Ezzeldin, Sheldon Brown Group, John Calloway and Montaje America, Dr. Dee's NuMuse, Karl Evangelista’s Taglish, Eric Jekabson Quartet and John Santos, Bob Marsh’s Suitable Trio, Destiny Muhammad Jazz Trio, Kat Parra and the Sephardic Music Experience, Rova Saxophone Quartet, Frank Tusa Trio, Howard Wiley Trio, Angela Wellman, and New Roots.
