Berkeley Symphony continues its 2019-2020 season with a fascinating exploration of masterworks that explore the finding of one's voice, highlighted by Brahms' Symphony No. 1 which took the composer almost twenty years to complete. Superstar mezzo-soprano Kelley O'Connor makes her debut as soloist for the Bay Area premiere of Bryce Dessner's Voy a Dormir and brings to life texts by Argentinian feminist poet Alfonsina Storni. And in commemoration of the 19th Amendment and Voting Rights Act, the San Francisco Girls Chorus joins the Orchestra for the world premiere string orchestra version of Mary Kouyoumdjian's powerful Become Who I Am.
