Virtual Baroque Workshop • Rita Lilly • Vocal Masterclass
Join early music soprano Rita Lilly for a class of vocal techniques and approaches to singing an iconic work from the early seventeenth century: Caccini’s Amarilli mia bella (1601). This class will involve singing for all observers of any level as well as focussed master class work for those participants who would like to sing for the group. We will start off with stretching and vocal warm ups to prepare your body for singing. The second and main part of the class will consider approaches to singing and ornamenting Caccini’s Amarilli mia bella informed by the treatise Le nuove musiche by Giulio Caccini (1601). Performing participants should prepare sections or the entire song for singing in class. Rita Lilly will work with you (and the group of silent observers) as you explore this expressive gem of the early Baroque period.
