The Coltrane legacy is personified with this masterful trio, whose 2016 ECM release In Movement made numerous best-of-year lists, netted a GRAMMY nomination for Coltrane in the category of Best Improvised Jazz Solo, and was called "a multi-generational summit meeting" by the Los Angeles Times. Legendary drummer Jack DeJohnette gained notoriety for his work with Miles Davis, Charles Lloyd, Dave Holland, and Keith Jarrett as well as his enormously influential life as a bandleader and collaborator, recording nearly 40 albums and contributing to dozens of others. He was named an NEA Jazz Master in 2012.

Son of John Coltrane, yet an artist who has consistently walked his own path, Ravi Coltrane rose through the bands of drummer Elvin Jones and saxophonist Steve Coleman to forge his own highly developed identity, leading six albums and working with artists including Alice Coltrane, Flying Lotus, Chick Corea, and Saxophone Summit with Joe Lovano and David Liebman. Described by The New York Times as "an electric bass virtuoso," Matthew Garrison is the son of John Coltrane Quartet bassist Jimmy Garrison. He has lent his graceful mastery to recordings and performances with artists including Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin, Whitney Houston, Wayne Shorter, Ornette Coleman, and Joe Zawinul, among others, and is co-founder of Brooklyn's Shapeshifter Lab.
