What they do best:

Musica Marin is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting classical music and culinary culture through unique programs and concert events. Our one-of-a-kind events are held at world-class venues in the San Francisco Bay Area and around the world.

When you attend a Musica Marin event, you will experience sophisticated chamber music, gourmet food, and the knowledge that you are contributing to philanthropic programs focused on young people in the arts.

Our Music
Musica Marin believes that a high quality of art and music positively influences lives and culture within a community and beyond. We are committed to inspiring the next generation of musicians and music lovers by bringing together world-renowned artists with aspiring young musicians in intimate settings, just as the composers intended their music to be heard. Musica Marin was formed with the understanding that culture, and especially high culture as we know it, is not frivolous or fleeting; it withstands the ages with purpose and meaning. The bond we make through the pursuit of these higher cultural goals crosses all boundaries and brings us together spiritually and emotionally, making us, and the world around us, better for it.

Our Food
Being based in the San Francisco Bay Area, we are fortunate to have access to the very best product available in the country. We strive to take advantage of this by using the freshest local ingredients at the peak of season. We develop our menus based on this, pairing it with the theme of each event and complementing the music played to bring a cohesive experience for the patron. The relationship between food and music has a long history; many great composers and performers were connoisseurs, and some even contributed to the lasting world of recipes. Food and wine often inspired new works and influenced the creative process of the composer; both have been the subject of many musical works, from drinking songs to the savory gastronomical and culinary references in the operas of Mozart, Rossini, and Verdi. Musica Marin strives to continue this compelling relationship by bringing together our culinary artists, local farms, and renowned musicians.

Our Philanthropy
Musica Marin dedicates a portion of its proceeds to benefit young musicians through our Young Artists and Scholarship Programs. As a non-profit organization, we also accept donations from our patrons to help fund these activities.

Musica Marin is committed to nurturing and inspiring the next generation of musicians through our Young Artist Programs, which includes the Young Artist Performance Program, the Young Artist Scholarship Program, the Composer-in-Resident Program, and the Young American Composer New Work Competition.

The Young Artists Performance Program gives up-and-coming young artists an opportunity to rehearse and perform with professional musicians at a Musica Marin event and receive financial compensation.

The Musica Marin Young Artists Scholarship Program gives scholarships to musically gifted students wishing to pursue an advanced music education. In the past, Musica Marin has granted funds to the San Francisco Boys Chorus, the Mill Valley Film Festival Education Program and The Juilliard School Scholarship Program, specifically to a California student.

The Young Composer New Work Competition is a new chamber music composition to be premiered by Musica Marin. Winner will be mentored by Musica Marin’s musicians and Resident Composer Clint Borzoni. More information to come.

Young artists and groups who have joined us in the past include the Merolinis - a group of young up-and-coming singers from the Merola Opera Program and pianists from the Adler Fellowship Program, the San Francisco Boys Chorus, and Simple Harmonic Motion - an acapella quartet from California Polytechnic in San Luis Obispo. Musica Marin has also welcomed many young Bay Area musicians, including a young violinist who began her first year at The Juilliard School in Fall 2018.
