New Beginnings and Inspirations: Works by Ali-Zadeh, Martinů, Mendelssohn, and Sirmen

Presented by Benicia Chamber Players

Join the Benicia Chamber Players for the opening concert of their 23/24 season! “New Beginnings and Inspirations” celebrates a new era for BCP by offering a snapshot of the exciting and varied concerts that await this season. Works include the string quartet piece Reqs by Franghiz Ali-Zadeh, who was inspired by the diversity of her Azerbaijani culture’s dance traditions; one of the earliest surviving chamber works by a woman composer, a violin duo by the violin and composition virtuoso Maddelena Sirmen; Martinů’s rhapsodic and virtuosic first duo for violin and cello; and Felix Mendelssohn’s first mature string quartet op. 13 characterized by its poignant “ist es wahr” motive.
