Third Thursdays - 2020 Klein Laureate Jiaxun Yao, cello in concert

Third Thursdays, a series of new online concerts presented by California Music Center, featuring recent prizewinners and post-show conversation, continues Feb 18th. Thursday's concert features the exciting young cellist Jiaxun Yao (2020 Klein International String Competition 2nd prizewinner). Airing from Qingdao, China, her program includes Beethoven, Bach, Schumann and Carter, with Ting Xiao on piano. After, join us for live chat with Jiaxun. 18 year old cellist Jiaxun Yao was born in Qingdao, China, graduated from the Juilliard Pre-College School, and will begin her bachelor degree at The Juilliard School with Richard Aaron and Timothy Eddy. Jiaxun recently won second prize and the Best Performance of the Commissioned Work award at the 35th Irving Klein International Competition. She is a recipient of From the Top’s Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award and has appeared on From the Top on NPR. THIRD THURSDAYS are a ticketed series of online concerts featuring recent Klein Competition prizewinners with live post-show conversation with the artists. While we can't present our beloved house concerts in-person just yet, we can bring them to homes around the world. All streams at 5PM Pacific/8PM Eastern. Access to the concert will be by RSVP.
