Choral Artists of Carmel Winter Concert

Presented by Choral Artists of Carmel

Choral Artists of Carmel under the direction of Robin McKee Williams will present their winter concert on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 3:00–4:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Monterey.

The concert repertoire will feature the music of composer Thomas LaVoy, including the world premiere of the extended work “To Sunlight,” a set of three choral pieces written for the Choral Artists of Carmel, with text by Robin McKee Williams. Lavoy will attend and speak about the pieces and his compositional process.

The concert will feature both new and returning soloists, choral artists, and musicians. Thomas Shoebotham from San Francisco will be the cellist in the To Sunlight premiere. Soprano Aimee Puentes will open the concert with La Maya y Dolorosa by Enrique Granados. Tenor Arthur Wu will sing Ecco ridente in cielo from Barber of Seville. Oliver Chiang, baritone, will sing the solo and David Dally will play the violin in The Last Letter by LaVoy, an emotional meditation on love based on a letter written by a soldier from the Civil War. Soprano Heather Greene from Berlin will sing the solo in I Eat Alone by LaVoy. Patrick Lord-Remmert from New York City will also sing with the choir and perform in a private concert for LaVoy.
