Panel sheds light on Charleston’s 'father of Black classical music,' Edmund Thornton Jenkins, Morehouse College and Royal Conservatory of London alum and explores four of his compositions to be presented by the Colour of Music Festival Chamber Orchestra.

Dr. Karen Chandler, Associate Professor Emerita, Arts Management Program, College of Charleston, Saturday Night Live’s keyboardist, Tuffus Zimbabwe, great nephew of Edmund Thornton Jenkins, and Dr. Christopher Brooks Professor of Anthropology at Virginia Commonwealth University and author of Roland Hayes: The Legacy of an American Tenor will provide historical context to the featured performance (Nov 17th) thoughts and insights of a classical legacy just beginning to be told.
