Contra Costa Chorale Spring Concert

Presented by Contra Costa Chorale

The Contra Costa Chorale presents its Spring 2024 concert, “Make Our Garden Grow,” featuring two special highlights: a World Premiere of “Seed” by renowned choral composer Joan Szymko, based on a poem by Elsa Gidlow, commissioned to celebrate Artistic Director Cindy Beitmen’s 12-year tenure with the Chorale, and guest artists Rev. Carolyn Anderson and the Community Fellowship Choral Ensemble singing gospel presentations of the historical ‘Spirituals’ in addition to joining the Chorale in singing the final piece on the program.

With this concert our members celebrate the diversity of choral music, bringing together composers who may have been previously marginalized or overlooked. We also welcome this opportunity to make a place in our garden for guest artists with a variety of perspectives, cultures, musical styles, gender expressions, and lived experiences historical and contemporary. There can only be growth and colorful abundance in a community where music is a shared experience.

We invite you to join us in recognizing that music provides a place for everyone—especially music that comes from within ourselves, sung by and for all of us.
