E4TT's 16th anniversary season opens with a musical conversation about transformation of various kinds--physical, biological, emotional, environmental, and musical. The highlight of the program will be Arnold Schoenberg's Verklarte Nacht ("Transfigured Night"), Op. 4 (1899), arranged for piano trio by Eduard Steuermann and inspired by the eponymous poem in which a couple's love is transformed by compassion. "Transfigured Night" will be placed in a musical dialogue with three contemporary chamber works:
- Verklarte Nacht (Transfigured Night) by Arnold Schoenberg (18742-1951), arranged for piano trio by Eduard Steuermann
- The Dragon and the Girl for cello by Lisa Bielawa
- Fluid for violin and tape by Darian Donovan Thomas
- a bridge between starshine and clay by inti figgis-vizueta
- songs by Franz Schreker (1878-1934)
Performed by E4TT (soprano Nanette McGuinness, cellist Abigail Monroe, pianist Margaret Halbig) and guest violinist Jennifer Redondas
