Beethoven and Beyond

Presented by Eos Ensemble

Eos Ensemble performs Beethoven and Beyond at the Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley 7/16 at 7pm

Come and experience the thrill of live chamber music at the Throckmorton Theatre on July 16 at 7pm!  The Eos Ensemble presents two constrasting works, the first “Apertures”,  a newly commissioned duo for violin and viola by UCLA music professor Kay Rhie.  Inspired by the emotional turbulence of the pandemic, it includes movements entitled “Quarantine Blues” and “Zoom Dance” and attempts to portray some of the intense and complicated emotions we all felt during the past year.

The second, Beethoven’s monumental string quartet in E flat, Op. 127 is a work of sublime transcendental beauty and deep emotion.  Written towards the end of his life, it plumbs the depths of human experience from intense intimacy, to comic adventure and triumphant exuberance.  A life affirming testament to the resiliency of the human spirit, we hope you can join us for this thrilling evening of live chamber music.
