The choir «KORiUSA (Choir in the USA) consists of 40 adult singers from various choirs in the South - East part of Norway, near the capital city Oslo. The singers are amateur singers from local choirs all over the eastern part of Norway. This is the first time the Choir is touring the United States. The first stop is concerts in Seattle with local choirs. Then moving down to Oregon presenting concerts together with Kirby Shaw and his choir in Medford. The tour finishes in San Francisco with concerts together with the Mission Dolores Basilica Choir.
The idea about this project choir is to meet people from different nations and meet through music and culture. We believe that music may throw down the borderlines between people and nations. Since 2006 has this choir has travelled all over the world, some of the singers having taken part in every trip.The repertoire consists of folk music and classical from Norway, music from Europe and America. The meaning is to perform music from our home country, from different parts of the world and maybe the most important thing, sing songs from the countries they are visiting.
The conductor is Erland Dalen. He is educated from the University of Oslo and Innlandet University College. He is conducting different choirs in Norway and is touring all over the world with different choirs. Erland Dalen is also the founder of Damenes Aften, a female choir from Hamar, Norway which has won several first prizes in choral competitions in Europe.
