Second Sunday Organ Concert

The 7th Season of the Second Sunday Basilica Organ Recital Series opens September 8th at 4 p.m. with up and coming young concert organist, Chase Olson.

Chase Olson, 16, is a junior at Terra Linda High School in San Rafael. He began studying organ with Dr. Angela Kraft Cross on his 13th birthday and studies piano with Dr. William Wellborn in San Francisco. He has performed as an organist in the Junior Bach Festival headquartered in Berkeley, and has recently been named Organ Scholar at the Congregational Church of San Mateo. In 2018, he played concerts at St Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in Carmel, St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Salinas and St Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco. In June of 2019, Trinity Cathedral of Reno featured Chase playing a concert in their Pipes on the River concert series. He then took lessons with Daryl Robinson and Dr. Isabelle Demers while attending the 2019 POEA in Houston, TX. Chase won a scholarship from the San Francisco Peninsula Organ Academy to travel on a study trip to France in December 2018. He took lessons with Louis Robilliard, Frederic Blanc, Sophie Veronique Cauchefer-Choplin, Jean-Baptiste Robin, Aude Heurtematte, and Christophe Mantoux, and shared a recital at Notre-Dame d’Auteuil in Paris.

He aspires to be a medical doctor as well as a concert organist and pianist. He was the recipient of an award from the Marin Music Chest for piano, and every other Friday afternoon, plays piano for the residents of Nazareth House, a Senior care facility, where he loves to volunteer.
