Dave Mihaly and the Shore—Music for strings, wind, and percussion. Tight and loose, improvised and composed. First time meeting of this collective group; big ears, receptive eyes, and wide imaginations.
Dave Mihaly is an organizer and disorganizer of sound. He writes instrumental music, music with lyrics, and collaborates with musicians in bands and improvisational mayfly-like ensembles. He has recorded his music, music of other people, and is a fan to some degree of all genres and post genre sounds as well. He has been traveling the past few years to western China to record and concertize with musicians there, in Chengdu and Chongqing. He plays in a steady stream of groups in the SF bay area and made and released a recording this year on the Calar label called "Light in the Ring, the Ali suite' with his trio, Shimmering Leaves.

Moxie celebrates the first date of its 20th year with an array of tunes that encapsulates Noertker's quirky and melodic ouevre. The music is brought to life through the collective interactions of Noertker and his idiosyncratic friends/colleagues: the endlessly inventive Brett Carson tickling the ivories; the ever-playful and emotive Annelise Zamula on woodwinds; and the luminant and sparkling rhythm stylist Jon Arkin.
