Peninsula Ballet’s Nutcracker tells the familiar story of the magical world created by the mysterious and talented Herr Drosselmeyer for Clara and Fritz. Gregory Amato’s exuberant reimagining of The Nutcracker reinvigorates this beloved holiday tradition with a 21st century sensibility, while cherishing all of our favorite Nutcracker moments.
In this version, Drosselmeyer is aided by the Fairy of Inspiration who, in addition to providing a healthy helping of magic fairy dust, whispers wise words to Drosselmeyer, who replaces frowns with laughter, accusations with compliments, and irritation with good cheer, as we all survive the pompous Mouse King to travel through the Snow Kingdom to a world of Sweets and Happiness ruled by the Sugar Plum Fairy.
Twenty-five professional dancers from Peninsula Ballet Theatre are joined by Clara, Fritz, and their friends to present a holiday treat for the whole family at the historic Fox Theatre in Redwood City, a 5-minute walk from the Redwood City CalTrain station.
