The composer Joseph Bodin de Boismortier (1689-1755) truly embodies the combined French and Italian style. He was also one of the first composers to buy his royalty through the sale of his compositions.
We will study Boismortier’s Concertos for 5 flutes in a version for alto recorders and bass instruments and will concentrate on concerto no. 4 and no. 5 and discuss his immense repertoire.
