[Opera Aficionado: Interactive Lecture Series] A Final Bow

Presented by San Francisco Opera

Opera Aficionado is an exciting suite of programs designed for patrons who are passionate about opera. Aficionado provides an opportunity to learn more, dive deeper, and get an inside look at the world of opera.

As part of Opera Aficionado, our Interactive Lectures Series gives opera-goers around the world a front-row seat to scholarly talks, allowing attendees to dialogue with fellow opera lovers, experts, and special guests. Each month will be focused on a concept or theme relevant to all of us.

The San Francisco Opera Chorus reigns as one of the finest operatic vocal ensembles in the country and throughout the world. This December, Opera Aficionado celebrates this heavenly choir with intimate discussions featuring former members, an outgoing maestro, and some of the finest music ever performed. Take a break from all the fa-la-las of the holidays and join us for some grand operatic cheer.

For many an opera lover, it’s all about those arias and the stars who sing them under the spotlights. Hidden in the shadow of those stars however, it is the opera chorus that gives us some of opera’s greatest moments. Cole Thomason-Redus and Kip Cranna are joined by Bay Area choral directors Jeffrey Thomas and Stan Engebretson for a survey of our favorite choral moments in opera. From some of your most beloved tunes to obscure moments of beauty and drama, we’ll have a little bit of everything for everyone to sing about!
