[Opera Aficionado: Interactive Lecture Series] A Tribute to Ian Robertson

Presented by San Francisco Opera

Ian Robertson wears a black suit, sitting outside of the War Memorial Opera House.

Opera Aficionado is an exciting suite of programs designed for patrons who are passionate about opera. Aficionado provides an opportunity to learn more, dive deeper, and get an inside look at the world of opera.

As part of Opera Aficionado, our Interactive Lectures Series gives opera-goers around the world a front-row seat to scholarly talks, allowing attendees to dialogue with fellow opera lovers, experts, and special guests. Each month will be focused on a concept or theme relevant to all of us.

The San Francisco Opera Chorus reigns as one of the finest operatic vocal ensembles in the country and throughout the world. This December, Opera Aficionado celebrates this heavenly choir with intimate discussions featuring former members, an outgoing maestro, and some of the finest music ever performed. Take a break from all the fa-la-las of the holidays and join us for some grand operatic cheer.

In 1987, Conductor Ian Robertson joined our family at San Francisco Opera and has remained with us ever since. His tenure as Director of the San Francisco Opera Chorus spanned a remarkable journey, filled with musical triumphs, five General Directors, all four Music Directors, and events in time that are now part of history. This December, that 35-year-long journey comes to an end as Maestro Robinson steps down from the podium for the final time. Join us for a tribute and celebration of Ian and his masterful service to our company at the helm of our very own chorus of angels.
