Founded in 1999, this large ensemble’s mission is to expose the larger listening audience to the richness of Cuban and other Latin American music styles that have had a major influence on American popular music. Throughout its history, the ensemble has performed at San Francisco’s Carnaval, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and live on KPFA-FM as well as with legendary performers such as Orquesta Aragón, Israel “Cachao” Lopez and Benny Velarde. The ensemble has become a significant part of the Bay Area’s multicultural music and art community.
