Join us for a special evening featuring the legendary pianist/composer/bandleader Oscar Hernandez! Mr. Hernandez is the recipient of four Grammy awards for his work in the Latin jazz and Salsa music scene.  Stanford's critically-acclaimed ensemble will be sharing the stage with Mr. Hernandez, who has prepared several songs and arrangements specifically for the evening's program.  It will be a unique experience for everyone!

Oscar is an icon in the world of Latin Jazz . He is perhaps best known the leader and founder of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, which is widely regarded as one of the best performing groups of its kind in the world. His career as a professional began in the 70’s performing and recording with Ismael Miranda, Ray Barreto, Celia Cruz, and Conjunto Libre. Oscar was responsible for charting the musical course of the Rubén Blades Band, “Seis Del Solar”. He has been the director and conductor for several Broadway musicals such as Paul Simon's "Capeman" and Gloria Estevan's "On You Feet". In addition, he has released 3 CD's as a solo artist, Oscar Hernández & Alma Libre, the most recent of which is "Visión" on his on label, Ovation Records.
