Metamorphosis: a choral concert by Tactus SF

Presented by Tactus SF

Butterfly emerging

A cappella choir music of the Renaissance. Tactus SF explores the human experience of transformation—how we face the inevitability of change and grow through into new life. Change often begins when we are challenged or even wounded, forced to bring an end to one way of being. From that, we are faced with the challenge of how to cross the threshold into the next chapter of our life. It happens to each of us, over and over again. Grief; transformation; new birth.

The music of our program echoes this. Pieces by Josquin, Massaino, and de Rore express the grief. Pieces by Gesualdo, Allegri, and Striggio explore the process of transformation. Pieces by Palestrina, Lasso, and Tallis herald our new birth. The concert will also feature instrumental music by guest artists Mane Musica.
