Randy Newman's tunes are unmistakable, the product of five decades of genius. Nowhere is his storytelling more evident than his singular stage production, Faust. Written 25 years ago as a full-length stage production, Faust is a modern retelling of the classic Devil vs. Lord story. In 1995, a Faust concept album introduced some of those songs to the wider public with vocals by James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, and Bonnie Raitt.
Now, Faust comes back to life, reimagined as a stage concert with the full score performed by a cast of musical theater talent, backed by a gospel choir and a big band. Since its premiere 20 years ago, Newman's score has only been performed live once at City Center in New York City. This rare performance of a musical masterpiece is a must-see.
