For the audition we ask you to:
- Sing a prepared song or aria (any style), or your voice part's line in a portion of a standard, classical choral work
- Bring two copies of your music, one for yourself and one for accompanist
- Perform sight-singing of short musical excerpts
- Repeat back short melodies played on the piano
Lacuna Arts is expanding its 16-voice Ensemble to 20 voices for an upcoming program of a cappella music for double choir, featuring works by Monteverdi, Scarlatti, Palestrina and Gabrieli. Rehearsals are Mondays 6:30 - 9:30pm in San Francisco beginning Jan. 6, with performances Mar 28 and 30. Email [email protected] to schedule an audition.
Our Music Director checks for voice range, blend, sight-reading ability, & musicianship. No solo song demonstration necessary. He might ask you to sing something by yourself, after he’s played through whatever it is with you. It might be something you’ve sight read.

Bring one prepared piece in Italian, and be prepared to cold read one or two pieces from the program selections.
The audition consists of the performance of a prepared solo piece a cappella and various ear-training and sight-singing exercises.
Voci rehearses Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 10:00 PM in Orinda. Spring concerts are February 9, May 3, 4 and 10, and will feature works by Karle Korte, Barber, Rachmaninof, Joan Szymko, Gwyneth Walker, Copland.

You must come to 1st rehearsal on 9/5 at 7pm (Church of the Incarnation, Santa Rosa). At that rehearsal you will sign up for audition slot between 9/6-11. Audition: sing scales/vocalises, sing a prepared piece of your choice (pref classical, bring music for accompanist), sightsing simple diatonic tune, and match pitches.
Our 2013 repertoire includes the Requiem of Gabriel Fauré (with orchestra) as well as part songs by Saint-Saëns, Ravel, Debussy and Hindemith.
Auditions will be held by appointment only Monday, August 26th and Wednesday, September 4th from 7-9 pm in San Francisco.
