Palo Alto-based Golden State Youth Orchestra invites young musicians ages 6-18 to audition for the 2024-25 season. Led by an internationally renowned faculty, GSYO offers six orchestras/ensembles for students at all levels of musical ability. Start your musical journey in the entry-level orchestra Chamber Players or challenge yourself in the prestigious Symphony Orchestra!

New instrumental groups are devoted to the performance of instrumental music. There will be public concerts each semester as well as opportunities for other gigs in local community events.

San Francisco-based Resound Ensemble is holding auditions for all voice parts, especially basses, on Wednesday, August 17th, 7:00-9:00. We present a wide range of styles of music each season, from 15th century pieces to new works, based around a unifying theme. We place a big value on community, and enjoy musical & non-musical activities together throughout each season.  Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights, from 7:00-9:30, in Noe Valley, easily accessible by BART, MUNI trains & buses.

Membership in Cantare's 24-voice Chamber Ensemble is by audition. Auditions are conducted by Artistic Director David Morales and are held in the summer, prior to the beginning of the annual season in early September. Previous choral experience and strong reading skills are essential.

Auditions are used to determine vocal timbre, range, vocal flexibility, and musicianship skills. Those auditioning will be asked to vocalize, sing a brief solo of their choosing (aria, art or folk song, show tune, etc.) and sight-read various choral selections provided.

Join the St Monica Church Choir to help bring the best in sacred music to the Catholic liturgy. Music Director Matthew Walsh leads the St Monica Choir is repertoire ranging from chant to polyphony to the best in contemporary sacred music. This is a supportive parish which worships in a building whose generous acoustic makes singing a pleasure. Be a part of something beautiful!

The Emerging Artists Chamber Music Award is given annually to an outstanding Bay Area ensemble of 3 to 6 instrumentalists and/or vocalists, who are on the cusp of a professional music career and whose average age does not exceed 35 years. The award is $1000 and a performance at the Berkeley Piano Club on January 11, 2015.
