Pre-School

Elizabeth MacDougall

My students vary from those who want to play in a band, to church musicians, as well as retired adults who studied as young children. I teach all ages. At the college piano class I teach 20 beginners functional skills - that means they make music from the beginning. The students learn the chords and are able to play with others within a few lessons. Some of my private lessons also focus on functional skills.

I also have a select group of students who perform professionally and come to me for technical coaching.

Charlton Lee

Charlton Lee, violist, founded the award-winning Del Sol String Quartet in 1992. Critically acclaimed and two-time winner of the top Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, Del Sol explores new ways to interact with audiences, composers and artists across cultures and art forms. Del Sol commissions and performs new music from the brightest living voices around the world. Many of the group's captivating performances include innovative collaborations with electronica and traditional instruments from other cultures: Asian, Latin American and indigenous Australian.

Stanley Luu

I teach in my home studio in San Mateo. My students are quite competitive. I focus on preparing students for The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). A majority of those students pass with distinction. I also have students who are prizewinners in local and international competitions. My background includes successes in the Sturm Page Piano Competition and United States Open Music Competition. Parental supervision is required for lessons. Scheduling is flexible.

Yvonne Liu

Teacher Yvonne runs a private piano studio in Foster City, CA with two Fazioli grand pianos. Lessons are also available on Zoom.

Beginners start with Suzuki method, and all students are encouraged to participate in ABRSM assessments.

She is a board member of the United States Open Music Competition (www.USOMC.org)

Jeanette Tietze

I teach at Holy Innocents Church, Corte Madera. My favorite pianists are Richter and Gillels. I loved living in Vienna, Austria, during my twenties, and attended perhaps thousands of concerts there.
Music is for everyone, as Kodaly said, and it is the job of the schools to teach music.

Moira Greyland

Although I have been a professional performer for most of my life and I am still actively concertizing, teaching is my grand passion, as is watching my students go on to one success after another. I specialize in restarting stalled careers for professional singers, in correcting physical issues both with singing and with harpists, and in making things much easier so you can get back to making music and not have to worry so much.

San Domenico Music Conservatory

The Music Conservatory offers a wide array of options for adults and children who are not enrolled at San Domenico School through our Community School. Whether a student is just beginning an instrument, or is at an advanced level, faculty work to place the student in lessons and ensembles that serve the student's musical needs. Participants in the Music Conservatory’s programs perform in recitals throughout the school year.
