My goals as a teacher are twofold: to instill and support a love of making music in each student, and to successfully teach every student while honoring each individual's learning style. My many years as a journeyman singer, a piano player, a choir director and as a parent uniquely qualify me to teach. I teach beginning pianists of any age over 5 years, and singers at any level from the age of 10. My teaching style is warm and unintimidating but my standards are high and I am very serious about what I do.

I provide brutally honest feedback to help aspiring professionals (18 and up) sound their absolute best without pushing, and the tools every singer needs to be their own best teacher during their daily practice.
Limited space is available for beginning singers (16 and up) who are willing to put in the time and effort to develop a strong, foundational technique based on my performing experience as well as a solid knowledge of the anatomy and function of the human voice.

I love to teach! I welcome all ages and levels. One of my greatest
pleasures is seeing a student fulfill their potential and experience the
joy and satifaction of singing well. Upon coming to Carmel 15 years
ago, I established my private voice studio in addition to teaching at
Hartnell College and Santa Catalina School. In Southern California I
was on the faculty at CSULA and Chaffey College teaching voice, music
appreciation and theory. At Chaffey I was the musical director for the

Members of my studio are always at the top of their game. With a mix of
challenging material, effective practice techniques, and a great deal of
fun, I push my students to help create their own musical paths. For
beginners, I equally emphasize fundamental pedagogy, music theory, and
artistry, in a variety of musical styles. They learn correct breath
control, posture, and sound production to facilitate good habits to last
a life time. After 6 months, my students have always improved 10-fold,
