Glee, the T.V. show, has probably given the wrong impression of what Glee Clubs actually are and do. They're really choruses, some of the oldest in the U.S., and often have high musical standards. The Cornell Glee Club is an excellent example. In their upcoming concerts at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, at Stanford Memorial Church, and in San Anselmo, they will sing new works by David Conte — now an S.F. Conservatory professor, but formerly the Glee Club's director, and another new work, Four Rubaiyat, by UCLA composer David Lefkowitz. But of course, that won't be all: The Hangovers, the a capella small group, will perform popular songs and the whole group will end with traditional Cornell songs.
