Merolini Stars Do Barber

Merola: The Barber of Seville

This weekend, the Merola Opera Program steps out with Rossini's oft-played masterpiece The Barber of Seville.

I'm told I'm not the only fan of this opera, so this is an easy recommendation. The Merolini are singers you will soon be seeing in major opera houses around the globe and for much more than the $40-$60 asking price at Herbst Theatre.

The program is now so well-known and successful (see our article this week) that the talent it takes in is top-tier — and not just vocally. These are people who know (or are rapidly learning) how to give a whole, rocket-fueled performance.

There are four performances and two different casts, each of which should reveal a few stars in the making.
