Vienna Boys Choir in Concert

Choral enthusiasts are likely to be flocking to Grace Cathedral and Livermore's Bankhead Theater later this week to hear the Vienna Boys' Choir.

After a bit of Carl Orff's Carmina burana to get things off to a raucous start, the boys get down to business — Bach, Schubert, a sung version of Johann Strauss II's Pizzicato Polka, and part of Giovanni Pergolesi's gorgeous Stabat mater.

The choir is currently seeking to update its image and to that end, recorded three pop albums since 2001. But on this tour, there's nothing but tradition on offer, including, one imagines, the famous sailor suits.
