Polyphony Chamber Orchestra

PCO was founded in 1998 by Stanley Lee and Anne Lee. The mission of PCO is to provide an after school music education for students of all ages. The young musicians will learn not only how to play together in an orchestra, but to learn different music styles from different eras (Baroque, Classic, Romantic, 20th Century and Contemporary) as well.

The orchestra consists of strings (violin, viola, cello and double bass) and woodwinds (flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon). We had about ten musicians for each group, PCO Junior and Senior groups in 1998. Now PCO Junior has about thirty musicians and PCO Senior has thirty five musicians. The repertoire has increased from level I & II to level III & IV for PCO Junior, and from level III & IV to level V & VI for PCO Senior.

PCO does perform at least twice a year. The “New Year Concert” is usually at the end of January or beginning of February and the “Annual Concert” is in June of every year. PCO has preserved a very good tradition of inviting guest performers to perform in all concerts in the past. The guest performers are some of the finest musicians and music teachers in the Bay area. They are always excited to perform with PCO. This is due to the fact that we have something in common, the “Joy of Music”!
