Private Lessons

The Alameda String Academy is a music school conveniently located in the heart of Alameda offering high quality instruction in violin, viola, cello and guitar, with a particular emphasis on chamber music.

Our goal is to provide more than “just lessons.”  Our talented faculty work hard to create a real community of musicians where students enjoy their music, play together in groups, and perform for each other in a kind, supportive and challenging environment.

Young Women's Chorus

The Young Women’s Chorus of San Francisco is YWCP’s premiere performing ensemble and is comprised of singers who exhibit excellent vocal technique and musicianship skills. YWC sings challenging choral music for women’s voices, emphasizing classical compositions from all eras, and including world music, jazz and Broadway selections. All members of YWC take voice lessons from a professional voice teacher in small classes every other week. Led by Artistic Director Dr.

All Things Strings

A week of string music fun, developing good string techniques while enjoying daily workshops in playing styles (jazz, baroque, etc), a chance to compose a piece, and a great study unit on Mozart! Camp ends with a short performance on Friday, August 17.

The San Jose Chamber Orchestra is a professional string orchestra focused on presenting high-quality chamber orchestra repertoire. SJCO continues to champion a variety of living composers alongside more familiar classical works. Teacher Barbara Day Turner is the founder and Musical Director at SJCO.

Young Musicians Program

YMP is a music training program for talented 5th through 12th grade students who want to excel in music but who are not able to afford private lessons or specialized training. Participants, selected on the basis of musical potential and financial need, are provided with free musical instruction during the summer and school year. A scholarship program limited to 80 - 95 exceptionally gifted youngsters from low-income families, YMP provides preparatory training for students who plan to go on to college and professional careers.

Winds Across the Bay

Membership is by audition only. Tuition for the 2010-11 season is $560, plus a $40 'Performance Supplement' that includes two tickets to each performance, and a CD recording of each concert. Included in the tuition is a yearly membership in the group, including Instrument Clinics several times a year given by local Professionals. Financial Assistance is available.
