The Alameda String Academy is a music school conveniently located in the heart of Alameda offering high quality instruction in violin, viola, cello and guitar, with a particular emphasis on chamber music.

Our goal is to provide more than “just lessons.”  Our talented faculty work hard to create a real community of musicians where students enjoy their music, play together in groups, and perform for each other in a kind, supportive and challenging environment.

Prelude Chorus is YWCP’s beginning-level chorus, welcoming girls with no previous musical training. Through a Kodály-based music education curriculum, choristers will learn basic vocal techniques, sight-reading, and performance skills, and sing unison and two-part repertoire in many languages. Prelude Chorus is led by Kodály specialist Samantha Maas-Baldwin, and presents 2-4 public performances annually.

Join the Flock and soar with the East Bay's only flute choir. Enhance your performing opportunities and become a better flutist. Prerequisite: 3 years playing experience, good rhythm, tone and sight reading skills. Midyear enrollment is possible. Please call for space availability. Conductor is Monica Williams. A suite of successively more advanced orchestral experiences now culminates with the teen level Diablo Regional Youth Orchestra They will perform challenging music and accompany renown guest artists. By invitation only, Orchestra Leadership Ensembles of select advanced DRYO members will participate in a minimum of one rehearsal a month and assist with sectionals and performances.

This approach is not only more satisfying musically, but is also physically and athletically correct, which allowed these performers to play without physical or mental antagonism, leading them to reach levels of expression and brilliance unequaled in our present day because this approach has been lost. We are bringing back this esoteric knowledge, which we have named the SFIM Method.

String and woodwind players at intermediate and advanced levels are encouraged to sign up for a small chamber ensemble, and are placed in a trio, quartet, or quintet that has a weekly coaching session and rehearsal.
